Vincenzo Gemito was an Italian artist lived between the second half of 19th and the first half of 20th century. He was close to the Realistic school and hostile to Neoclassic’s one. He studied in the Archaeological Museum of Napoli and portrayed folk scenes.
The “Fishing boy” was exhibited at the Paris’ Salon, were it got a lot of attention. The boy is in the balance on the top of a stone, while he’s holding some little fishes.
