阿波罗——Apollo Belvedere

Apollo del Belvedere, also known as the Apollo Pitico, is a famous marble statue dating back to the post-Hellenistic period (second half of the 2nd century AD) when the Romans had conquered all of Greece. One of the most beautiful works of all antiquity is still considered for the harmony of proportions. The white marble statue, 224 cm high, represents the Greek god Apollo, who has just killed Python, a chthonic deity from Delphi.
The musculature, still tense, suggests the effort that follows the battle against Python, while the curly hair falls smoothly on the neck and elegantly gathered on the head, surrounded by the strophium, an ornamental band symbolizing a deity or a king. The god is entirely naked, with the exception of the mantle (chlamydia) attached to the right shoulder, which is reversed only on the left arm and part of the back.
