The Nike of Samothrace (also known as The Winged Victory of Samothrace) is one of the most famous Greek sculpture. It was found in Rodi’s island and it’s currently in Louvre Museum. Nike is the Greek word that means “victory”, that the statue represents. It was a sculpture for good fortune. The winged goddess was probably descending upon the prow of a ship. The beauty of the sculpture remains untouched, though now her head arms arm are unfortunately lost. The drapery is very light and vibrating as it was moved by wind, and it gives a sense of dynamicity to all the artwork.
