Sirio Tofanari was a clever Florentine sculptor, graduate from the Fine Arts Academy in Florence, and fine italian animalier.
His favourite subjects were infact exotic animal, panthers, gazelles, orangos, elephants, parrots and many others which he cast in bronze with an extraordinary realism.
This lovely and extremely realistic little calf is depicted while scratching his ear with the leg, in a move typical of these big cattles.
