Putto Cecioni

Lost wax bronze casting.

This beautiful and incredibly realistic portrait of a young little boy holding a rooster is a faithful replica of an original white Carrara marble statue by sculptor Adriano Cecioni (1836-1886), now exhibited inside the Pitti Palace Gallery of Modern Art.
Adriano Cecioni studied art at the Florentine Academy of Fine Arts.
The culpture depicts a little boy whom having tied up hi little cart to the leg of a rooster, tries badly to lift up the rooster into his arms, and gets terribly scared when the rooter opens up the wings in an attempt to fly away. The terrified expresion on the face of the child tells it all.
