Rape of a Sabine with two figures

Lost wax bronze casting.

The Rape of one Sabine is a bronze reduced in scale replica of the episode of the Rape of the Sabine Women so perfectly sculpted in marble by Renaissance master Jean de Boulogne.
The legendary story, belonging to the early Roman history, tells the episode in which the first generation of Roman men acquired wives for their families from the neiborghing Sabine families.
Feraing the emergency of a rival society, the Sabine men refused to give their women into marriage to the Romans, consequently the Roman planned to abduct the Sabine women during a triumphal festival organised among Rome's neibourghs. At the festival Romulus gave a signal, at which the Romans grabbed the Sabine women and fought off the Sabine men.
