The Dying Groom di Maya Valeria Barrett

With inspiration from the flood god created in the story of «Noahs ark», the idea is to tell the untold stories of the people who were abandoned for the waves to take.
My painting depicts a groom who is seeing the end of his life near. He is in a boat with three women, one being the bride, they are meant to represent how humans experience grief. Embrace and letting go, fight and denial, ignoring and freezing. Together they are the trinity of heart, body and mind. The reason Ive chosen for it to be a wedding day, is because it stands in such a large contrast to the situation they are in. The title, «The dying groom» is meant to symbolize something dying before it has had the chance to come into fruition.
