Joshua directs the crossing
The story of Moses’ successor Joshua, begins in the left middle ground with Joshua standing in a chariot directing the crossing trough the miraculously dry river Jordan. Priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant lead the way.
Gathering stones
In the right foreground one member from each of the twelve tribes of Israel gathers in front of tents to build a memorial in honor of the river’s parting.
The siege of Jericho
The first major battle after the Israelites entered Canaan took place in Jericho. In the background, the priests are sounding their trumpets as Joshua and his men process around the walled city. After seven days of marching, the walls crumbled and the city fell.
