The original 204 cms height Venus is in marble "Pario". It was carved by Alessandro di Antiochia in 130 B.C. and it is an Ellenistic piece. The Ellenistic style was a mixture of different Classic Greek styles. The original statue was discovered broken in two pieces in 1820 by a peasant on the Greek isle Milos and it is now located in the Louvre Museum, in Paris.
