Lost wax bronze casting. The Discus Thrower was a sculpture carved by Mirone in 455 B.C. Today it is knew only through Roman replicas and the most famous is probably the Discus Thrower by Lancellotti at the National Museum in Rome. The Athlete is throwing his discus with an extreme sense of power in his muscles. This strenght is opposite to the fixed classic expression of his face, without any kind of feeling.
