Augusto Prima Porta is a Roman statue carved in 20 B:C., a majestic portrait of the Emperor Augusto. The original 2 metres tall marble statue is now located in the Vatican Museum but it was found at Villa Livia, the private house of Augusto's wife. The Emperor is standing with the classic gesture asking for the silence before the " adlocutio", the incitement of the soldiers before the battle. The armour which is the most appreciated detail in this masterpiece is fully chiselled with bass-reliefs and make evidence on the athletic body, memory of classic Greek heroes portraits.
