Vincenzo Gemito was a Neapolitan artist, active at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, hostile to the Neoclassicism and close, instead, to the realist tendencies. In fact, portrayed above all typical popular scenes: in this work the fisherman seems to be hovering on the rock while, in his chest, he holds some small fish.
