This sculpture by Antonio Canova is a neoclassical masterpiece. It shows the god Amore while he’s awaking the lifeless Psyche with a kiss. They are very tender: the god support the woman’s head and breast. The sculpture is very dynamic and lead the audience into going around it.
Canova was one of the greatest neoclassical master and this may be his most famous work.
Napoleon wanted that the artist worked for him, and offered his protection. Canova denied because he thought that art was above politics, however this sculpture was brought to Parigi and today is in the Louvre Museum.
