Spinario - Boy with a thorne

“Boy with Thorn”, also called Spinario, is a Greek sculpture of a boy withdrawing a thorn from his foot. There are several versions of this statue, one of the oldest is in Rome, in the Capitoline Museums, another one in marble is in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
Brunelleschi saw this sculpture and represented the Spinario in his bronze panel “The Sacrifice of Isaac”, realized for the competition to design the doors of the Baptistery of San Giovanni.
