The centaur is a mythological creature with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse. They are wilder and more impulsive than humans, because they are half-animals. They are often enemies of legendary heroes.
This Roman bronze sculpture represents the centaur looking behind himself. The original was in Greek marble, it was founded in the Hadrian’s Villa with the Young Centaur and today is in the Capitoline Museums.
