Head of Ghiberti

Lorenzo Ghiberti realized two of the doors of Florentine Baptistery in the first half of 15th century. One of them door was so beauty and successful that Michelangelo called it “Gates of Paradise”, a name still used nowadays. Ghiberti showed an incredible skill in modelling due to his training as goldsmith.
This high-relief represents the artist’s head, that he decided to put in the middle of the door.
