Andrea del Verrocchio was a Florentine sculptor of the 15th century and he was Leonardo’s master.
This putto with dolphin should be part of a fountain for one of the Medici’s villas, but then it was moved in Palazzo Vecchio, in the first courtyard build by Michelozzo.
The putto, who is generally represented as a winged naked child, holds a dolphin, that is represented as a fish, according to the Renaissance iconography. The water came out of the dolphin’s mouth.
