Sirio Tofanari was a Florentine sculptor of the twentieth century famous for his sculptures depicting animals. He claimed to be self-taught and was a close friend of critics and artists of the time, including Ugo Ojetti. After the first almost impressionistic works, his style was defined and became more classic, reaching very high levels of precision and accuracy. Here it very realistically represents a panther biting and killing a caiman. A dramatic moment the one represented here, which responds to the harsh law of nature.
