Russian Bear by Bjorn Okholm Skaarup

The brown bear is a symbol of Russia, an animal to which Russians are very attached.
The bear metaphor was introduced in the 16th century by Western powers to depict the large, ruthless and cumbersome Tsarist empire. Later, the Russians adopted the double-headed eagle as a symbol of the state and made the bear icon their own to express their power and the fear that this power instilled.
Bjorn democratically creates a diptych for Great Russia and Great America, the nation that adopted him and which he depicts in an equally biting parody
