Rhino Arlequin Bowing

Rhino Harlequin it is one of the two masks, together with hippo Ballerina, from the late-Renaissance “Commedia dell'arte”. It's part of the artist's series “Carnival of the animals”, from the musical suite of the same name, written by the French composer Camille Saint-Saens, which transform animal attributes into music. These two characters maintain their aura as lucky subjects in the figurative arts from the 16th century to the present day.
The timid posture and good-hearted rhino Harlequin is dressed in clad in a yellow and blue diamond suit with a cloth ruffle. It is a clear tribute to Picasso's harlequins representations and also a passionate homage to the work of the great master of pencil-drawn dreams, Walt Disney.
