South Door goes back to the Baptistery of Florence

Frilli Gallery has been casting the replicas of the three set of doors of the Florence Baptistery. The work was commisioned by the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore institution. The first doors to be substituted with a museum quality replica were the Gates of Paradise in 1990, followed by the North Door which was substituted in 2016. Finally the South Door, the oldest of the three, will be replaced with a public celebration on Monday June 24, 2019.

The 24th June represents a significant day in Florence, it is St. John Day, protector of Florence to whom the Florentine Baptistery and the South Door are dedicated.

We hope to see you all in Piazza Di San Giovanni to celebrate this special moment.

The journey of the making of the replica, currently underwork in the Frilli Gallery's foundry, can be found on our website and facebook page, make sure to chech them out before our next release!
