Венера Аллегрейн

Christophe-Gabriel Allegrain (Paris, 1710. Paris 1795) he was a French sculptor, child of Gabriel Allegrain (also a sculptor), he was student and assistant of the famous sculptor Jean-Baptiste Pigalle.
He was the main sculptor-decorator of the castle of Louveciennes, for which he realized a magnificent Venus, today preserved at the Museum of the Louvre, Paris.
This sublime figure has fascinated a big number of famous characters of the history. Allegrain, instead of carving an idealized body of a goddess, he decided to show a woman in all of her deadly realism. The fluidity of the contours, the feeling of fullness, the voluptuousness of its gesture, and the refinement of the haircut are eminently sensual.
Christophe-Gabriel Allegrain was a French sculptor that has developed his job in neoclassic style attenuated by the softness and the charm of the rococo one.
