"Protecting Paradise", an Artistic Experience

Tornabuoni Palace, via de' Tornabuoni 16 , Florence, Italy

On May 7th 2024  an unprecedented artistic experience came to life, the extraordinary exhibition "Protecting Paradise", which will continue to captivate viewers until 7th September 2024 at Palazzo Tornabuoni, in the heart of Florence.

Conceived and curated by the prestigious Galleria Frilli, with the valuable support of Australian entrepreneur Ed Braude, esteemed partner of the Palazzo, "Protecting Paradise" has seen the participation of over 90 distinguished guests, notably including Monsignor Verdon, eminent director of the Museum of the Opera del Duomo in Florence, who delivered an intriguing Lectio Magistralis on the Gates of Paradise of the Baptistery of San Giovanni.

The focal point of the exhibition is an extraordinary installation: a deconstructed Gates of Paradise, breaking conventional artistic and iconographic schemes of this masterpiece. The entire frame profile of the door replica is displayed, accompanied by individual panels representing scenes from the Old Testament, detached from the doors, offering a unique and incredibly close look at the symbolism of this work and some reflections on its preservation.
