Poiret Masse is a ceramist from California, living in Florence since 2015. She finds a dynamic collaboration between her art history and fine art backgrounds in her ceramics practice. Researching eighteenth-century Florentine painter Violante Siriès Cerroti for Advancing Women Artists Foundation opened up that period in the city’s history to her, feeding her ceramics with curvaceous Baroque lines. She makes objects she hopes people will find joy in using every day.
The experience of combing Medici and Lorraine-era inventories searching for Violante’s paintings among the artworks, objects, and furnishings carefully recorded in them inspired La Guardaroba Firenze.
“I make objects I hope you will find joy in using every day, and that you will discover new ways to enliven the way you arrange your life with them.”
