November 4 – March 15, 2025 Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00,

From July 31 to November 2, 2025, the Museo Alle Origini del Chianti in Gaiole hosts the works of sculptor Silvano Porcinai in dialogue with the legendary Chimera of Arezzo, which for the occasion is on display as a museum-quality replica from the exhibition halls of the Frilli Gallery in Florence.

The exhibition, titled Contemporary Chimeras, is part of the Etruschi85 25 Project, promoted by the Tuscany Region, the Fondazione Musei Senesi, and AMAT (National Museum of Siena) with the aim of celebrating and renewing interest in the archaeological heritage that has shaped Etruria's identity over the centuries and continues to be a source of cultural and artistic inspiration today.

Discovered in 1553, the Chimera is an undisputed masterpiece of Etruscan bronze statuary, depicting the legendary monster with the body of a lion, the tail of a serpent, and the head of a goat on its back. Following its discovery, the Chimera became part of the private collection of Cosimo I de Medici, who shortly thereafter became the first Grand Duke of Tuscany, using the Etruscans as a tool of political propaganda.

Silvano Porcinai, a renowned Florentine artist and Professor of Fine Arts, has been developing a new "Chimera" identity and his own personal vision of the myth through his unmistakable modeling for years.

The exhibition will be open at the "Alle Origini del Chianti" Museum (ChiantiOrigo, Gaiole in Chianti) daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., during the complex's summer opening hours.
